The American Academy of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology is the largest professional medical organization in the United States devoted to the allergy/immunology specialty.The AAAAI represents, asthma specialists, clinical immunologists, allied health professionals and others with a special interest in the research and treatment of allergic disease. Established in 1943, the AAAAI has nearly 6,500 members in the United States, Canada and 60 other countries.The AAAAI is devoted to the advancement of the knowledge and practice of allergy, asthma and immunology for optimal patient care.
Asthma Diagnosis ,Asthma is defined as reversible airway obstruction. Reversibility occurs either spontaneously or with treatment. The basic measurement is peak flow rates and diagnostic criteria are set by the British Thoracic Society.Asthma Bronchial Inflammation,The mechanisms behind allergic asthma are the best understood of the causal factors. Inhaled allergens that find their way to the inner airways are ingested by a type of cell known as antigen-presenting cells, or APCs.During an asthma episode, inflamed airways react to triggers such as smoke or pollen. Airways narrow & produce excess mucus making it difficult to breathe. Asthma is the result of an immune response in bronchial airways.Asthma Cause, The fundamental problem in asthma appears to be immunological: young children in the early stages of asthma show signs of excessive inflammation in their airways.
